Middleton, Mass. (Jan. 19, 2010) — Bostik, Inc.’s Construction & Industrial (C&I) Business Unit has created a new position, Business Manager – Consumer Products Group, and has promoted Scott Banda to fill the billet and direct growth in consumer/retail markets throughout the Americas. In this new role, Banda is charged with sourcing innovations from within Bostik’s global product portfolio, as well as launching new solutions where applicable, and bringing them to the consumer channel.
Initially, Banda will focus on growth opportunities in the consumer/do-it-yourself segment for Bostik’s flooring installation systems: hardwood, ceramic, carpet/vinyl, cement patch, rubber and resilient flooring, and green building innovations.
"The establishment of our Consumer Products Group is an exciting, new initiative being funded by Bostik, and I am honored to be given the opportunity to serve as the program’s champion," Banda said. "Bostik’s brands have long been the preferred solutions of professionals across the globe. Now we’re building upon that, capitalizing on a plethora of product and market synergies, to make Bostik a household brand name."
Banda joined Bostik in 2004 as Carpet, Vinyl & Cement Patch Product Manager. In December 2007, he advanced to Product & Market Development Manager. In August 2008, Banda was promoted to Market Manager – Ceramic Installation Systems. He also was charged with spearheading Bostik’s market development activities in the rubber flooring arena. Banda thrived in these most-recent roles, until being tapped this January to spearhead growth within Bostik’s Consumer Products Group.
Banda will report directly to Robert McNamara, Director of Marketing & Sales for Bostik’s Flooring Group within the C&I Business Unit.
"Scott’s marketing savvy, business development skills and technical know-how helped us increase the revenue of our DURABOND carpet, vinyl and cement patch products more than 55%, and he has us on track to repeat the feat on the ceramic and rubber flooring sides," McNamara said. "Scott has also led us into leadership positions in the moisture control sector of the flooring market as well as in green building practices and products.
"It’s no surprise, or secret, that many of Scott’s strategies have been emulated in other market segments throughout Bostik," McNamara added. "The consummate professional, Scott is the perfect person to help officially launch and grow Bostik’s Consumer Products Group."
Banda will leverage his expertise in green building practices, which has helped Bostik create many carpet, vinyl, cement patch, ceramic and rubber flooring solutions for professionals, to grow Bostik’s Consumer Products Group. He’s just the marketing mind to help regional retailers "go green," having earned the U.S. Green Building Council’s LEED Accredited Professional (AP) designation, a highly sought-after credential few manufacturers possess.
Banda earned a bachelor of science degree in marketing from Bentley College in Waltham, Mass., an M.B.A. from Northeastern University in Boston, and recently a Certificate in Sustainable Design from the Boston Architectural College in Boston. Prior to 2004, Banda served global chemical industry leaders such as Loctite Corporation, ITW, Courtaulds Aerospace and Ecolab in various sales, marketing and product development roles.
