Bostik C&D Division promotes
Jim Downing to Market Manager
of Construction Sealants & Adhesives,
and Carpet, Vinyl and Cement Patch Products

MIDDLETON, MASS. (AUG. 7, 2008) — Bostik Inc.’s Construction & Distribution (C&D) Division has promoted Jim Downing to
Market Manager of Construction Sealants & Adhesives, and
Carpet, Vinyl and Cement Patch Products.
Formerly Construction Sealants & Adhesives Product Manager, Downing will continue to manage Bostik C&D Division’s
industry-leading Chem-Calk® commercial line and rapidly growing Bostik Home® family of residential construction sealing solutions.
He now takes on additional responsibilities for DURABOND® carpet, vinyl and cement patch flooring installation products acquired in 2001.
After spending 10 years with 3M specializing in high-performance polymers, Downing came aboard the Bostik C&D Division in January 2006 to engineer the launch of the Bostik Home brand.
“We now have a dozen Bostik Home products on the market and have more than doubled the brand’s sales every year,” Downing said. “Equally important, we have stayed true to our mission and message of application-specific solutions that truly meet unmet marketplace needs ─ a charter we’ll be following closely with our DURABOND, Chem-Calk and Bostik Home solutions for years to come.”
“What an honor ─ being asked to manage this terrific trifecta of brands,” Downing said. “Our flagship Chem-Calk commercial construction sealants and adhesives have been strengthening specification for 40 years. Bostik Home may be the new kid on the residential sealants block, but everyone knows about it and is asking for it. And DURABOND has long been the leading name in carpet, vinyl and cement patch flooring installation solutions. There are plenty of growth opportunities for each of these established brands, and our valued distribution and contractor partners, and we’ll be tapping into those one application at a time.”
Downing holds a bachelor of science degree in biochemistry/chemistry from
the University of North Carolina in Chapel Hill and a master’s of science degree in
chemical engineering/polymer science from Rowan University in Glassboro, N.J. He reports directly to Robert McNamara, Director of Sales & Marketing for the Bostik C&D Division.
“Jim has extensive experience developing, fine-tuning, successfully marketing and supporting urethane and hybrid sealing and adhesive technologies, which will crossover rather nicely with our DURABOND carpet, vinyl and cement patch solutions,” McNamara said.
“Jim is based at our Warminster, Pa., facility. He eats lunch and plays basketball with our research-and-development team there and maintains an office at our manufacturing plant, so the opportunities for crosspollination of ideas made his promotion even more of a slam dunk.”
