Senior Chemist - Flexible Laminating Group

Job Responsibilities

• Responsible for the development of Vitel Resins and liquid adhesives products to meet customer specific or market-wide application requirements
• Work closely with Regional Managers and New Business Development Manager to focus efforts on target accounts and provide Technical Service
• Work at the bench to develop new products/polymers
• Synthesize/formulate/compound new polyester and polyurethane adhesive resins/systems
• Support the scale up new products from lab bench to full commercialization
• Work with Marketing/Sales or customer base to develop and test FL products for new application. Focus on flexible laminating adhesives and Vitel resins.
• Establish applications warranting new product development
• Support the initiatives of the Marketing/Sales by communicating directly with the customers to convey product capabilities and assist in resolving difficult issues
• Interface with Analytical group to resolve customer issues with product and/or flexible laminates

Job Requirements

• Minimum of a MS degree in Chemistry, Chemical Engineering, or Polymer Science. PhD preferred
• 0-5 Years experience in adhesives or related fields
• Capable of working on the bench with solvent and/or isocyanates with proper safety equipment
• Strong polymer background in the areas of polymer synthesis and polymer structure-property relationships
• Strong verbal and written communications skills
• Must have computer skills (Microsoft Word, Excel PowerPoint, etc.)
• Must be able to work independently with minimal supervision
• Ability to travel 10-20% of the time (some international travel may be required.)
